I am first and foremost a father and husband. I am a hopeful, yet pragmatic advocate for real, paradigm-shifting change. I am an unwavering fighter for what I believe in and value, and I will fight for the benefit of all people, not just the privileged few.
Professionally, I am a CPA and hold a master’s degree in business administration and accounting. I currently serve as the CFO for a technology company in Sarasota. In that role, I am responsible for
overseeing all aspects of corporate finance, accounting, tax, M&A, audit, HR, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. I have been a finalist for CFO of the year twice from the Tampa Bay Business Journal. I also received the Patriot Award in recognition of hiring and supporting veterans.
I was born and raised in Tennessee, and before coming to Florida in 2011, I spent 5 years working internationally in other corporate finance and advisory roles in manufacturing and healthcare. My background in finance and knowledge of the healthcare sector equip me to provide legislative leadership at a time when the Coronavirus has spiraled out of control. A coordinated response is needed to protect the health of our citizens and address the impending shortfall in state revenue without raising personal taxes.
As parents to four amazing children, my wonderful wife Christina and I are committed to building a future in which no child goes hungry or fears being shot while at school. We value education, racial equity, and a clean environment. We recognize that the health of our seniors and of our young people must be protected, and that affordable healthcare is a basic human right. As your legislator, I will work for the values of decency and democracy – the basis of responsible government.
At my core, I believe that government and its institutions can and should be forces for good. Government representatives must work to restore public trust and confidence. Our role is to improve our state and its communities through fiscal responsibility and ethical governance. Above all, I am committed to applying values of equality and justice in all that I do, and will use my skills and energy toward those ends in Tallahassee.
